With 2024 finally coming to a close, what better way to end off the year than a full recap of my top 10 best sellers?
This year was a year full of firsts for me and my business - one of those being the first year I really put so much work into in-person markets! I did markets in 2023, but definitely feel like I got more into the groove in 2024 more so than 2023.
So, what about my best sellers? All plushies! No big surprise there, right?
So to help you (and maybe myself a little bit), here's a list of the top 10 products that I sold in 2024 - Amigurumi Edition! If you're an amigurumist, I hope you can take some inspiration from my list for this coming year!
If you're a crocheter but haven't tried amigurumi, why not take the plunge and give it a shot? I have the perfect pattern to get started into amigurumi with my Flora the Jellyfish pattern!
Without further ado - let's get into the top sellers of 2024!
Top 10 Sellers
- #10 Baby Dragon by AmiteurHour on Instagram
- #9 Peep Bunny by JNW Crochet
- #9 Beechains - Freehanded
- #8 Stingrays by TeresasCrochetShop
- #7 Tofu Turtle by MegsMakesPatterns
- #6 Hatching Chick by LewieandBerg
- #5 Baby Axolotl by CrochetGrove
- #4 No Sew Cat by AQCrochets
One of the biggest surprises on my top 10 in 2024 was the Stingray plushies by Teresa's Crochet Shop! While these guys are adorable, I didn't think they'd be super popular amongst the kids. Some things on this list (looking at you, Axolotls), I did expect to be super popular. But I would have lost the bet if someone told me stingrays would do well.
As for the cats... is there really a surprise there? Cats are always a big seller! I actually took a chance on cats this year and changed up about halfway through the year what pattern I made for my markets. Nothing against this pattern, I still love it! But I felt like I needed some variety for my own sanity sake. (Hint: the new pattern I started using also made the top 10 list!)
One of the reasons I think these cats did so well is because of the customization! I offered customers the choice of a variety of collar colors on the spot that I would just sew onto the plushies upon purchase.
The peep bunnies and hatching chicks were HUGE sellers at Easter, but not so much after. They sold so well and I actually had a hard time keeping them in stock! I think I ended the season with 3 peep bunnies left (made 15 total) and 1 hatching chick (made 18 total).
After Easter though? Yeah they didn't sell so well - but the hatching chicks are still adorable! I have a fun spin on these guys planned for 2025!
One of the other best sellers I loved this year was the baby dragons! I'm not sure if I'll bring these guys into 2025 just yet, but they were so fun to make and made such an adorable addition to my booth!
No surprise to a lot of people I'm sure, but the black and white baby dragons did significantly better than the other colors (even though the green speckled one was SO ADORABLE).
Top 3 Best Sellers
The top 3 this year is probably not super surprising, but they did sell surprisingly well! Each of the top 3 had over 45 sales throughout 2024 each. That means I made more than 100 of these items throughout the year alone!
#3 Best Seller: Itty Bitty Mushroom Pop by Cable & Canvas
The Itty Bitty Mushrooms are not a surprise at all. These guys have been super popular in both years that I've been running my market booth. I offer these guys as just the mushrooms or with a keychain add-on at my booth that I install on the spot.
#2 Best Seller: No Sew Loaf Cats by BigBebez
Keep in mind, I changed between cat patterns about halfway through 2024, so the no sew loaf cats made the best seller list in just the 2nd half of 2024 alone. With these guys, I don't offer customization, but customers don't seem to mind, they're all so cute! I make a variety of cat colors generally and play with different spot, feet, and tail colors for my events.
#1 Best Seller: Chubby Duck by RachelsPatterns
Being my #1 best seller, I do have a ton of different variations - but do find that the mallard itself sells much more than any other variant. People love their ducks, I guess!
The Chubby Duck is not only my best seller, but also my (personal) favorite pattern right now! I cannot get enough of these guys and don't see myself losing interest in these lil fellas anytime soon.
Honorable Mentions
Honorable mentions are those patterns that, while they were great sellers, only a few were made due to various reasons.
- Snuggle Dragon by Momstichetti
- Sage the Sea Serpent by MommaCayleeCreations
- Flora the Jellyfish by 99% Coffee
While these patterns weren't #1 best sellers, they still deserve a spot on this list! Snuggle Dragons sell so well for me - every time I have one made for a show, it's gone before I even realize it!
I've also learned in 2024 that kids love sea serpents! More specifically though, anything long they can play with. Both of the sea serpents I made had adorable interactions with the kids at the markets as well as at the consignment store and I can't wait to make more in 2025!
As for Flora? I had a surprising amount of custom Flora the Jellyfish orders this year. She did swell in my anime convention event as well, but I made quite a few customs of her throughout the year as well (and still have one I'm working on presently).
Quick Recap
While 2024 was... an interesting one, these projects truly helped keep me entertained and interested in my crochet work this year! If you're looking for new patterns, check these guys out and give them a whirl!
What projects are you looking forward to trying in 2024? I'm definitely going to be working on more chubby birds this year, and I can't wait to see what different bird combos I can get out of these guys!
